“On that note, I'm at Studentpalatset, without friends, on a Saturday. It feels depressing.”

About Studentpalatset

To provide a meeting place for the students in Stockholm SSCO runs Studentpalatset which is situated at Norrtullsgatan 2 by Odenplan.  Studentpalatset offers a calm and comfortable environment to study in. If you are a student at Stockholm University, Royal Institute of Technology, Karolinska Institutet or Stockholm School of Economics you have access to Studentpalatset every day of the week. Other students can, if there is room, get a day-pass that will grant you passage in and out that day. Södertörn University College and Naprapathögskolan have chosen not to be a part of the collaboration with Studentpalatset and students of these institutions therefore do not have access to the facilities.

About Studentpalatset
The building has 290 numbered desks, 18 group rooms and a number of free seats in the corridors. The building also houses a café, Studenthälsan (student health centre) and the SSCO office.

The card

Bring the plastic card you receive as a student. The card is activated by us and serves as a key and your personal ID in the booking system. If you have not yet received a card, but have paid the student union fee, bring the receipt and a temporary card will be provided for you for a deposit of 10 SEK. When you return the card to us your deposit will be refunded.

Always use your card when passing in or out through the gates – this is extra important if you are returning from a break.

The card is used as a key in the outer door after 17.00 on weekdays and always on weekends. Use the card readers, when you see the green light, the door is unlocked for 15 seconds.

The booking system
To book a desk, follow the onscreen instructions. If this is your first time visiting us, the easiest way is to choose “random location”. The computer will then automatically book a free desk for you. This is also the best way if there are only a few free desks left.

When you are done studying and are about to leave, please choose “cancel booking” on the computer screen. This will cancel your booking in favour of someone else. If you do not do this your booking will automatically be cancelled after 20 minutes from the time you pass the gates on your way out. It is your responsibility to cancel the booking even if the gates by the reception are open.

Breaks
If you want to take a break from studying and leave the house, just use the card in the gates on your way out. If you return through the gates within 20 minutes your desk will still be booked on your card. The number of short breaks you can take during the day is unlimited. Do not forget to sweep the card in the gates on your way in.

Lunch

If you are going out for more than 20 minutes you can choose “Lunch” on the booking computer. This will give you a 1,5 hour break. Please observe that you can only have one lunch break a day and do not forget to sweep the card in the gates on your way in.

Group study rooms

If you need to study as a group you can book one of our 18 group study rooms. The rooms can be booked one day in advance. You book the room in the reception either by a visit or by phone 08-674 76 57. Please observe that you can not book a room by leaving a message on the answering machine. Each day is divided in 2 or 3 passes (see below).

You can access the internet using the wireless network in the building. If you do not have a wireless network card you can use the network sockets available in most group study rooms and in the study rooms on the third floor (Doktoranden och Licenciaten) If you do not have a network cable you can borrow one from the reception. To be able to use the network you need a personal user account from your university. For more information about the network ask the receptionist.

We hope you will enjoy your time at Studentpalatset. Remember to shut down your mobile phone and to keep your voice down in places where you can disturb others.
